RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Blank test

The solutions recovered from the blank test were analysed and the chromatograms showed no interference in the elution time window for the test material.

Recovery test

The trapping and extraction efficiency have been checked under the chosen experimental conditions simulating a vapour pressure of about 3x10-4 Pa

and 1.4x10-5 Pa. The test substance was retained in the first trap and the recovery va!ues ca!culated for the two tests performed were found to be about 99 and 93 %.

Preliminary test

The chomatograms obtained from the preliminary test showed no signal for MB46307.

In the conditions of the preliminary test, such a quantity of MB46307 (0.005 mg in 5 ml) would correspond to a vapour pressure of about 1.5x10-5 Pa.

Vapour pressure determination

The preliminary test indicated that the vapour pressure of the test substance is much lower than 1.5x10-5 Pa at 50°C. Therefore it is estimated

that the vapour pressure at 25°C or 20°C is lower than 1x10-6 Pa and no complementary experiment was undertaken

1.5*10 -5Pa at 50°C, 1*10 -6 Pa at 20°C or 25°C (extrapolated)

The measured vapour pressures are related to the temperatures according

to the Clausius Clapeyron equation :

log (PS) = A (1/T1 ) + B

where : PS is the vapour pressure of the compound (in Pa)

T is the absolute temperature (in K).

This equation is used to calculate the vapour pressure at 25°C.
