First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures
General information:
Where there is a risk of unconsciousness place and transport on one side in a stable position.

After inhalation:
Move to fresh air, keep the victim laying down and restful. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration. Administer oxygen in
case of breathing difficulties. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.

After contact with the skin:
Wash with plenty of water or soap and water; immediately remove all contaminated clothing. Seek medical advice and clearly
identify substance.

After contact with the eyes:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 10-15 minutes and seek medical advice. Keep eyelids well open to rinse the whole eye
surface and eyelids with water. Continue to bathe eyes during transport to medical practitioner.

After swallowing:
If conscious, give several small portions of water to drink. Seek medical advice immediately and produce the label or packaging.
Never give an unconscious person anything by mouth!

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media:
water mist , extinguishing powder , alcohol-resistant foam , carbon dioxide , sand .
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:
water spray , water jet .
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
Hazardous combustion products: nitrogen oxides , highly toxic substances .
Advice for firefighters
Special protective equipment for fire fighting:
Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Wear personal protection equipment (see Exposure controls/personal protection ). Keep unprotected persons away. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid
inhaling mists and vapours. If material is released indicate risk of slipping.

Environmental precautions
Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil. Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material
(e.g. earth). Retain contaminated water/extinguishing water. Dispose of in prescribed marked containers.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Do not flush away with water. For small amounts: Absorb with a liquid binding material such as diatomaceous earth and dispose
of according to local/state/federal regulations. Contain larger amounts and pump up into suitable containers. Clean any slippery
coating that remains using a detergent / soap solution or another biodegradable cleaner. Exhaust vapours.
Further information:
Eliminate all sources of ignition.

Reference to other sections
Relevant information in other sections has to be considered. This applies in particular for information given on personal protective
equipment (section Exposure controls/personal protection) and on disposal (section disposal considerations).

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:
Ensure adequate ventilation. Keep away from incompatible substances in accordance with section Stability and reactivity. Spilled substance
increases risk of slipping.
Precautions against fire and explosion:
Product can separate methanol. Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process
vessels, including partial, empty and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other enclosed spaces. Keep away from sources of
ignition and do not smoke. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging. Cool endangered containers with water.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:
Make sure there is no possibility of entering the ground.

Advice for storage of incompatible materials:
Keep away from alkalis. Avoid contact with acids. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
Further information for storage:
Protect against moisture. Store in original container only. Keep container tightly closed and store in a cool, well ventilated place.

Specific end use(s)
No data available.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls
Exposure in the work place limited and controlled
General protection and hygiene measures:
Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not inhale gases/vapours/aerosols.
Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling. Keep working clothes separately. Wash hands at the end of work and before eating.
Personal protection equipment:
Respiratory protection
gas mask filter ABEK .
Hand protection
Protective gloves made of butyl rubber . Gloves suitable for up to 60 minutes' use. Rinse gloves immediately after use and
remove. Wash hands with soap and water. At any sign of decay or chemical permeability remove gloves immediately and replace.
Eye protection
tight fitting protective goggles . Provide work station with eye bathing equipment. Do not wear contact lenses.
Skin protection
protective clothing . After handling make sure skin is cleansed and protected. Where there is risk of splashing: complete head,
face and neck protection .

Exposure to the environment limited and controlled
Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil.

Further information for system design and engineering measures
Observe information in section Handling and Storage.

Stability and reactivity

If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices no hazardous reactions are known.
Relevant information can possibly be found in other parts of this section.

Conditions to avoid
high temperatures , moisture .

Incompatible materials
Reacts with: water , basic substances and acids . Reaction causes the formation of: methanol .

Hazardous decomposition products
Under the effect of humidity, water and protic agents: methanol .

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods
Material
Recommendation:
Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Uncleaned packaging
Recommendation:
Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used.
Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Waste Disposal Legislation Ref.No.(EC)
It is not possible to determine a waste code for this product in accordance with the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) since it is
only possible to classify it according to how it is used by the customer. The waste code is to be determined within the EU in liaison
with the waste-disposal operator.
