Density:

Density of the substance 6-chlorohexan-2-one was determined to be 1.035 at 27 degree C.

Other supporting studies also suggests that the density of chemical 6-chlorohexan-2-one was found to be 1.02 -1.035 g/cm3

Particle size distribution (Granulometry)

The chemical 6-chlorohexan-2-one is a liquid chemical and hence it is technically not possible to estimate the particle size; as this property is applicable only to solid chemicals. Thus, this end point was considered for waiver.

Vapour pressure:

Vapour pressure of test substance 6-chlorohexan-2-one was estimated to be 129 Pa at 25°C by Modified Grain Method.

Partition coefficient:

Partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance 6-chlorohexan-2-one was estimated to be 1.4923.

Water solubility:

Water solubility value for the substance 6-chlorohexan-2-one is found to be 4768.8 mg/L at 25 deg C, indicating that test substance is very soluble in water.

Surface tension:

Surface tension of test substance 6-chlorohexan-2-one was estimated to be 28.5 mN/m at 25°C

Flash point:

Flash point of the substance 6-chlorohexan-2-one was estimated to be 91°C.

Auto flammability

The chemical 6-chlorohexan-2-one does not catch fire upon exposure to air at normal conditions of temperature and pressure. Thus the chemical is not likely to be "Auto flammable" and hence this end point was considered for waiver and the chemical is not considered to be "self igniting".

Flammability

The chemical 6-chlorohexan-2-one has an NFPA rating of 0 for Flamability. Thus, the chemical is unlikely to be "Flammable" under normal conditions of use, storage and transportation and hence this end point was considered for waiver & the chemical is classified as "Non Flammable" for the purpose of chemical safety assessme

Explosiveness

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study does not need to be conducted since there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule of 6-chlorohexan-2-one. Thus, this end point was considered for waiver and the chemical is considered to be "Non explosive"for the purpose of chemical safety assessment.

Oxidising properties

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the substance 6-chlorohexan-2-one is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of the chemical structure. It is an organic substance containing oxygen and chlorine atom but these elements are not chemically bonded to nitrogen or oxygen. Thus, the chemcial is likely to be "Non-oxidising".
