Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Experimental data are available investigating the short-term toxicíty of Bis(2-propylheptyl) hexanedioate (DPHA) to fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae. No effects on fish, aquatic invertebrates or algae were observed up to the limit of water solubility. Thus, with high probability DPHA is acutely not harmful to aquatic organisms. DPHA did not cause inhibition of respiration in a study according to OECD guideline 209 with activated sludge microorganisms as inoculum (EC10 (3 h) > 1000 mg/L). Thus, the overall potential to cause inhibition of activated sludge microorganisms is low and significant inhibition of degradation processes in sewage treatment plants is not to be expected.

In addition, experimental data are available investigating the long-term toxicity of DPHA to algae, aquatic invertebrates and fish. No effects on survival and reproduction up to the solubility of the substance in water were observed at all trophic groups. The available data indicate that long-term toxicity to aquatic organisms in the range of its water solubility is not to be expected.
