Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance DOTO has a very low water solubility (less than 1.52 x 10 -5g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C).

Based on the results of the ready biodegradability screening studies acc. to OECD 301F and 302B, the substance was considered to not to be readily biodegradable.

Waivers are given for studies OECD 307 & 308 ( technically not feasable due to the low solubility of DOTO in water).

Additional information

Further biotic degradation testing was not performed as the chemical safety assessment according to Annex I did not indicate a need to investigate further the degradation of the substance.

The solubility of the test material in water is extremely low making further biotic degradation testing in water impractical. Due to the low water solubility (less than 1.52 x 10-5g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C) it is expected that the surface water environment will not be the principal environment of concern.

Exposure to the soil and sediment, is so low that no refinement of the PECregional is required. The available data are adequate for risk assessmnet, classification and labelling purposes and PBT assessment, therefore further biotic testing in the soil and sediment compartments is considered inappropriate.

Based on the results of the ready biodegradability screening studies, the substance was considered to not to be readily biodegradable.
