Description of key information

Calcium is prepared and used by a large number of companies for various applications. Different grades of particle sizes are used for different purposes; therefore it is not possible to assess the particle size distribution of a single representative sample. Granulometry data is presented for various types of Calcium products found in the supply chain.
Data has been collated from companies, which use Calcium for a variety of applications, including: production of calcium injection wire; production of alloys; deoxidation and desulfurisation of steel, iron and, non-ferrous metals; and the like. Typical particle sizes of Calcium include:
- Lumps: 10-100mm, 30-200mm, irregular lumps
- Turnings: length 30-80mm, width 6-8mm, height 0.7-3.6mm
- Granules/Crumbs: >(0.2)-0.4-2mm, 2-7mm
- Strips: 2 inches x 2 inches, mixed cut
Depending on the application, the manufacturer can also provide a product according to the speficications desired by the user. For example, granules can be mechanically crushed or atomised in order to reach the desired particle size. Data is presented for particle sizes in the range of 0.0038 mm - 3 mm.
