Description of key information

Multiple studies describe potential effects of the test substance as inhibitor of ammonia toxicity, anti inflammatory agent, as radical scavenger and as a therapeutic agent in multiple sclerosis. No dose response information could be derived from these studies.

An in vitro test with lymphocytes from mice showed a dose and time related increase of cell damage after treatment with the test substance (Hu Mingqian, 2007). In addition, the test substance did decrease the number of ethanol induced stomach ulcers in rats (Evangelista, 1984,1985).

Additional information

The studies are not intended to assess toxicity of the test substance, but investigate the properties of the test substance to interfere with biological systems that are disturbed by external factors.
