Materials and methods

Principles of method if other than guideline:
If the vapor pressure of Leuco Sulfur Black 1 is expected to be so small that the value is below the measurement range of an experimental determination (e.g. the gas saturation method), then the vapor pressure can also be calculated, using the Modified Watson Correlation. This method is described by Lyman et al. (1990).

This method calculates the vapor pressure from the boiling point of the test item.

Any other information on results incl. tables

The estimation of the vapor pressure of Leuco Sulfur Black 1 was based on the EEC directive 92/69, Part A, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A.4 “Vapour Pressure”, EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992 and the OECD Guideline No. 104, “Vapour Pressure”, adopted July 27, 1995.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The vapor pressure of Leuco Sulfur Blacl 1 is below
1.8 x 10 (-7) Pa at 25 ºC
Executive summary:

The boiling point of leuco Sulfur Black 1 was determined in study C30931. In this study the DSC showed an endothermic heat at 99.9 ºC. This temperature is not the true boilng point of the test item as it only reflects the boiling point of the water contained . The DSC shows no further endothermic heat effect up to 400ºC. Thus, the boiling point of the Leuco Sulfur Black 1 can be regarded as being above 400ºC

Based on this boiling point the vapor pressure of Leuco Sulfur Black 1 was calculated being below :

1.8 x 10 -7 Pa at 25 ºC

calcuted using Modified Watson Correlation
