Description of key information

Bis(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl) peroxide 50 % in polydimethylsiloxane is classified as an organic peroxidetype D.

The Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT) of the pure substance is 60°C (reference SADT: CLP regulations 2.15.2.3 and UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, 5th revised edition, sub-sections 28.1, 28.2, 28.3 and Table 28.3.) See also ECHA guidance on the application of the CLP criteria, section 2.14.

This means, that part of the tests can be waived, because the substance decomposes.

Bis(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl) peroxide 50 % in polydimethylsiloxane is an organicwhite paste with a faint odour. So: The substance is not an aerosol or a gas.

The relativedensityof Paste of 48.7% Bis(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl) peroxide in 50.7% polydimethylsiloxane is 1.212.

Thevapour pressureof bis(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl) peroxide is < 0.009 Pa at 25°C.

Thepartition coefficientlog Pow value for bis(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl) peroxide is 6.0.

Thewater solubilityof Bis(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl) peroxide is less than 2 µg/L, the detection limit, so the substance isinsoluble.

Bis(2,4-dichlorobenzoyl) peroxide isflammablesince flammability is an intrinsic hazard in the class of peroxides.

The study on corrosion towards metal is technically not feasible.
