Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The lower and upper explosion limits of this Category was 1.6 - 10 %.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Flammability data was not available for any of the streams within this Category However as the category is mainly hydrocarbon C4 data was read across from hydrocarbon C4 substances (CAS numbers 107-01-7, 115-11-7, 106-98-9, 25167-67-3). All information came from a peer reviewed handbook (CRC, 2008).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Flammability data was not available for any of the streams within Category C. However as the category is mainly hydrocarbon C4 data was read across from hydrocarbon C4 substances (CAS numbers 107-01-7, 115-11-7, 106-98-9, 25167-67 -3). The lower and upper explosion limits of Category C are therefore determined as 1.6 -10%. Based on this range members of Category C are classified as R12 extremely flammable gases under the DSD and as Category 1 extremely flammable gases under the CLP Regulations.
