Description of key information

The effective concentration (EC50) value of 3-diethylaminophenol in green algae (Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata) in a 72 hr study on the basis of growth rate effect was estimated to be 15.0057 mg/L. But the BCF value of 3-diethylaminophenol reported was not >= 2000 as well as the substance was found to be rapidly degradable. Thus considering the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance , it is concluded that 3-diethylaminophenol could not exhibit short term toxicity to green algae (Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata) .

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
15.006 mg/L

By applying weight of evidence approach to the studies summarized in the above table it can be observed that EC50 value is expected to be in range of10.75694 to25.321 mg/l in 72 hrs to 96 hrs study.

But the BCF value of 3-diethylaminophenol reported was not >= 2000 as well as the substance was found to be rapidly degradable.

Thus considering the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance , it is concluded that 3-diethylaminophenol does not exhibit toxicity to aquatic algae (green algae, Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata)
