Description of key information

Reactive Red 141 is highly soluble in water with a water solubility of 411.28 g/L. The following results provide information on ecotoxicological behavior in the aquatic compartment.

6.1.1 Acute toxicity to fish: No toxic effects against fish were observed under exposure conditions (96hr-LC50 > 100 mg/L). All results are expressed in terms of nominal concentrations.

6.1.3 Acute toxicity to daphnia: A 48h-EC50 of 34.7 mg/L related to nominal concentrations was observed on Daphnia magna under static test conditions.

6.1.6 Toxicity to aquatic plants: In this toxicity test to aquatic plants (Lemna minor) according to OECD 221 an 7d-EC 50 value of 50.8 mg/L and an 7d-EC 10 value of 3.52 mg/L for the primary biological measurement variable "frond number growth rate" was obtained. The results are based on measured concentrations.

6.1.7 Toxicity to microorganisms: No toxic effects on microorganisms in an activated sludge test were observed as Reactive Red 141 showed an 3hr-EC50 > 100 mg/L. Test concentrations are given as nominal concentrations.

All studies were conducted according to national and/or international guidelines. The toxicity studies are classified as acceptable and satisfy the guideline requirements.
