Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Acute toxicity to fish was assessed using Rainbow Trout and Zebra Fish

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were exposed for 96 hours under static conditions to five mean measured concentrations of 3 -amino-4 -octanol ranging from 6.8 to 96 mg/L. The 96-hour LC50 value was 68 mg/L, with a 95% confidence interval of 52 to 96 mg/L.

In a second study, the acute toxicity to ZebraFish was deteremined to be >100 mg/l (nominal). It should be noted that in the 14 day chronic study the NOEC was considered to be >100 mg/L. Considering that this study was more recent and produced no mortality at the highest dose (103 mg/L) it is considered that the acute toxicity assay is not appropriate for determining the LC50. This result is also consistent with the results of the zebra fish assay.

Therefore the LC50 in fish is considered to be >100 mg/L
