Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

There is no evidence of any sensitisation potential for calcium compounds like test substance. Calcium is abundantly available in the environment, in food and extensively distributed throughout the human body. Sensitisation by or intolerance to an abundantly available essential element such as calcium would be grossly implausible and can therefore safely be excluded. Furthermore, none of the compounds making up the other main constituents (besides calcium hydroxide) or major impurities, i. e. calcium carbonate, dicalcium silicate, and calcium sulphate, are known to entail any sensitisation potential.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Sensitisation by or intolerance to an abundantly available essential element such as calcium would be grossly implausible and can therefore safely be excluded.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No information of any sensitising potential of calcium released from test substance is available. The test substance does not need to be classified for sensitisation
