Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

In the key study, a guinea pig maximization test was performed with the test 1,5,9 -cyclododecatriene (OECD 406). After intradermal and epidermal inductions and 24 hours as well as 48 hours after epidermal challenge, two (48h) and one (24h) of the 20 animals examined in this study showed positive response regarding dermal sensitization.

Under the conditions of this guinea pig maximization test, the test item1,5,9 -cyclododecatriene showed no dermal sensitization in female guinea pigs.

In the supporting study, guinea pigs treated with uncovered applications, subsequently received an exposure series during a 3-week interval. Six guinea pigs received 9 uncovered applications on abraded skin and 6 others received 4 intradermal injections. After a 2-week rest period, a challenge test on intact and abraded skin was done, and 12 previously unexposed guinea pigs (controls) were similarly treated. Occluded application of a 10 % solution on both intact and abraded skin did not result in significantly increased response. Under the conditions of the study, the test item 1,5,9 -cyclododecatriene showed no dermal sensitization in male guinea pigs.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Several studies are available to evalutation the sensitising potential of the 1,5,9-cyclodecatriene. All these studies are GMPT test, and showed that the test item is not a skin sensitizer.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Additional information:
Migrated from Short description of key information:
No data is avaibable on respiratory sensitisation.
