Description of key information

Following EU-Method A.10 and UN-Method N.1, Reaction product of 2-hydroxybenzoic acid, styrene and oxozinc can be considered as not highly flammable (not combustible). Furthermore, the chemical structure of the test item indicates that there are no groups associated with flammability in contact with water or pyrophoric properties. Experimental determination on flammability in contact with water resp. pyrophoric properties was thus not carried out.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Based on the results obtained in a study according to EU-Method A.10 and UN-Method N.1, Reaction product of 2-hydroxybenzoic acid, styrene and oxozinc can be considered as not highly flammable (not combustible). Furthermore, the chemical structure of the test item indicates that there are no groups associated with flammability in contact with water or pyrophoric properties. Furthermore, experience in handling and use does neither indicate flammability upon contact with water nor pyrophoric properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the experimental result obtained following EU method A.10 and UN N.1, as well as on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, the test substance was considered as not highly flammable (not combustible). Therefore, Reaction product of 2-hydroxybenzoic acid, styrene and oxozinc was not classified as flammable according to Council Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD) and Regulation (EC) no. 1272 / 2008 (CLP).
