Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (sensitising)
Additional information:

CAS 65997-04-8 rosin, fumarated, and the two other members of the category rosin adducts that have been tested using the mouse LLNA assay have been found to be skin sensitisers.Further, one member of the category was also tested by GPMT and Buehler and found positive when these tests were performed.

The data have been published in the scientific literature (Illing, H P A, Malmfors, T and Rodenburg, L 'Skin sensitisation and possible groupings for 'read across' for rosin based substances'. Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology 54, 234 -241 (2009)).

Migrated from Short description of key information:
CAS 65997-04-8 rosin, fumarated, and the other rosin adducts that have been tested using the mouse LLNA assay have been found to be skin sensitisers. Further, one similar substance was also tested by GPMT and Buehler and found positive when these tests were performed. As the Ca/Mg salt of rosin fumarated is considerd similar to those substances, it is also classified as sensitising.
