The octanol-water partition coefficient, log Pow, of the substance 2 -Hexyl-2 '-hydroxy-5 'methyldecananilide (AF-654), was investigated using an HPLC method according to OECD Guideline 117 and EU Method A.8. Since the substance appeared outside the validity range, only the lower limit of 6.2 could be derived. In order to obtain a value for the chemical safety assessment, the Rekker calculation method was applied, resulting in the log Pow value of 8.4. The two estimations are consistent.
