guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
method according to Siwoloboff
Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Storage conditions: Controlled room temperature (15-25°C, ≤70% relative humidity), protected from light and humidity (stored in a tightly closed container)
Key result
Boiling pt.:
>= 225 °C
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
225 °C

During the preliminaries, no real boiling point was observed. Although bubble formation was experienced, but the colour changes indicated that no real boiling occurred, however some degradation of the test item is presumed above ~225°C. Based on the preliminary testing, no boiling was seen using 0.5°C/minute heating rate, however change in consistency and the colour during heating indicated the degradation of the test item, therefore performing of the main test was not required.

Conclusions:
Boiling point of the test item was not observed before the apparent degradation of the test item above ~225°C.
Executive summary:

The study was conducted in accordance with OECD test guidelines n. 103 and EU method A.2, using the Siwoloboff method. In conclusion, boiling point of the test item was not observed before the apparent degradation of the test item above ~225°C.
