Endpoint:
hydrolysis
Type of information:
other: The physical nature and chemical properties of the test item meant that practical determination of hydrolysis was not feasible. An attempt to obtain data at the preliminary test temperature of 50°C was unsuccessful.
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
August 2018
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Guideline followed, however practical determination of hydrolysis not feasible.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 111 (Hydrolysis as a Function of pH)
Version / remarks:
A study was planned to examine the hydrolytic properties of the test item, HCFO-1224yd(Z), following methods described in Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008 Method C.7) and the OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals (Method 111). The physical nature and chemical properties of the test item, however, meant that practical determination of hydrolysis was not feasible.
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method C.7 (Degradation: Abiotic Degradation: Hydrolysis as a Function of pH)
Version / remarks:
The physical nature and chemical properties of the test item meant that practical determination of hydrolysis was not feasible.
Deviations:
no

Preliminary study:
The physical nature and chemical properties of the test item meant that practical determination of hydrolysis was not feasible. An attempt to obtain data at the preliminary test temperature of 50°C was unsuccessful.
Transformation products:
no
Remarks on result:
not determinable because of methodological limitations
Remarks:
The physical nature and chemical properties of the test item meant that practical determination of hydrolysis was not feasible. An attempt to obtain data at the preliminary test temperature of 50°C was unsuccessful.

The physical nature and chemical properties of the test item meant that practical determination of hydrolysis was not feasible. An attempt to obtain data at the preliminary test temperature of 50°C was unsuccessful. HCFO-1224yd(Z), being of moderate water solubility (approximately 0.5 g/L, Envigo Study Number SR47PV) and high volatility (the test item is a gas at ambient temperature), however, would be expected to predominate in the atmospheric compartment of the environment and would not be readily available for hydrolysis. A high predicted Henry’s Law constant value of 1.05 atm.m3.mol-1 (Henrywin v.32, US EPA) lends weight to this argument.

Validity criteria fulfilled:
not applicable
Conclusions:
A hydrolysis study was not feasible, but it was considered that it would not be a significant route of environmental degradation for HCFO-1224yd(Z)
Executive summary:

A hydrolysis study was not feasible, but it was considered that it would not be a significant route of environmental degradation for HCFO-1224yd(Z)
