Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
17. December 2018 - 26. February 2019
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test N.1 (Test method for readily combustible solids)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Name 1,12-Diaminododecane
Batch no. B1-5-10
Appearance White flakes with different size
Composition 1,12-Diaminododecane, mono-constituent
CAS No. 2783-17-7
EINECS-No. 220-489-6
Molecular formula C12H28N2
Molecular weight 200.36 g/mol
Homogeneity homogeneous
Expiry date 29.01.2019
Storage Room Temperature (20 ± 5°C)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
the test item 1,12-Diaminododecane should be considered as
not highly flammable (for EU regulations)
non-flammable solid (for UN regulations)
Executive summary:

First, a safety test was performed. A small amount of the test item was heated on a magnesia

groove with a gas burner in order to derive safety precautions. The test item melted to a

colourless liquid and burned with an orange flame.

In the preliminary screening test following the EU and the UN method, the test item was

heated with the flame of a teclu burner. The test item just melted to a colourless to slightly

white liquid. No ignition occurred within two minutes.

Therefore, the test item 1,12-Diaminododecane should be considered as

not highly flammable (for EU regulations)

non-flammable solid (for UN regulations)

Description of key information

a preliminary screening test for flammability is available.

Experience from handling and production indicates no pyrophoric properties

and stability in water.
