Preliminary Test

The content of test item dissolved in the water sample was 0.0138 g/L.

Main Study

The results for the samples taken at 24, 48 and 72 hours are given in Table 6.

The maximum difference of the concentrations determined in the 24, 48 and 72 hour test samples was ≤ 15%.  Based on this, the water solubility of the test item is given as the mean value of the analyzed concentrations.

A small response at the retention time of the test item was detected in the chromatogram of the pretreated sample from the blank water mixture.  Since concentration was very small (i.e. 0.0000026 g/L) compared to the concentration in the water solubility samples containing test item, this was considered not impacting the study.

Conclusions:
The flask method was applied for the determination of the water solubility of CMTX 2-carboxymethyloxy-thioxanthone.

The water solubility of the test item at 20°C was 0.0186 g/L.

The pH of the aqueous samples was 4.5 and 4.9.

In this guideline (OECD 105) study conducted with GLP certification, the test material (EC 282-803-8) was determined to have a water solubility of 0.0186 g/L at 20 °C.
