Applicant's summary and conclusion

Executive summary:

Information on physical and chemical characteristics of a test substance is required to support registration of products in OECD and EC countries. This report describes the determination of the melting point/melting range for hydroxypropylated .beta.-cyclodextrin following OECD Guideline. The melting temperature or melting point is the temperature at which a substance changes its physical state from a solid to a liquid at normal atmospheric pressure. It can be a measure of a substance's purity, and is important for identification purposes. Information on the physical state of a chemical in the environment, as solid, liquid, or gas, is needed to assess the movement and fate of the chemical as well as potential human and environmental exposure.

The study was initiated on 7 April 1997; the day the Study Director signed the protocol, and terminated on the day the Study Director signed the final report. The experimental phase of this study was conducted on 11 April 1997 at Springborn Laboratories, Inc. (SLI), Wareham, Massachusetts. All original raw data and the final report produced during this study are stored in

Springborn's archives at the above location.
