DISCUSSION

It was considered that the HPLC method would be the most suitable for determination of partition coefficient. As the test item contains no environmentally relevant dissociation constants, testing was performed at approximately neutral pH (eluent A: THF : Purified water (50:50 v/v), pH 6.5). The test item was eluted from the column after the retention time of DDT using eluent B (THF : 0.05 M ammonium formate, 0.2% formic acid, 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid (90:10 v/v). Acidified eluent was used to ionize the test item for MS detection.

Conclusions:
The partition coefficient of the test item has been determined to be greater than 3.16E6 (log Pow >6.5).
Executive summary:

The octanol-water partition coefficient (Log Pow) of that test item was determined based on the HPLC Method, using a procedure designed to be compatible with OECD TG 117 and in compliance with GLP. The octanol-water partition coefficient (Log Pow) of test substance was greater than 6.5
