Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2010
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Justification for type of information:
Data has been read across from a structurally similar substance (Sodium Docusate). See read-across justification documents in section 13 (to be updated to include calcium docusate divalent salt)
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
read-across: supporting information
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
> 180 °C
Remarks on result:
no self ignition observed under the test conditions

There was no measurable self-ignition of the substance below 180 °C. Above the melting point the substance has flown out through the wire mesh.

Executive summary:

In this study which was performed according to EU method A.16 there was no measurable self-ignition of the test substance below 180 °C. Above the melting point (165 - 170°C) the substance has flown out through the wire mesh.

In the absence of experimental data for calcium docusate, the auto-flammability testing result for sodium docusate is applied as read-across.

Description of key information

In the absence of experimental data for calcium docusate, the auto-flammability testing result for sodium docusate is applied as read-across.

Docusate Calcium is not auto flammable up to 180°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
180 °C

Additional information

In the Klimisch 1 key study from Holzschuh (2010) which was performed according to EU method A.16 there was no measurable self-ignition of the test substance containing > 97% docusate Sodium below 180 °C. Above the melting point (165 - 170°C) the substance has flown out through the wire mesh.

In the absence of experimental data for calcium docusate, the auto-flammability testing result for sodium docusate is applied as read-across.
