Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
no guideline required
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Simple determination of density of a viscous resin by weighing the displacement of reverse osmosis water

Potassium beta resin, batch no. EXP 5. The resin was melted by placing in a drying cabinet at ca. 75 oC. The resin was then introduced into pre-weighed 25-ml volumetric flasks. The gross weight of the flask plus resin was determined at 18.5 oC. Reverse osmosis water was then added to the flasks to bring the total volume up to 25 ml, and the weight measured again. The weights were used to calculate the density of the resin.
Type of method:
other: Similar to oycnometer method
