Description of key information

Physico-chemical endpoints are completed for this substance based on test data following standard guidelines, or data waivers. All data are therefore considered to be reliable and relevant for the endpoint concerned.

Appearance/Physical state/Colour

The test item is a colourless to light yellow clear liquid at room temperature as reported in the test item section, and associated certificate of analysis, in a GLP-compliant experimental study (2016).

Melting point/freezing point

The freezing point of the test item was determined to be less than -51°C (< 222 K) at atmospheric pressure (2013). The melting point of the test item could not be determined at a temperature range from -150°C to 40°C by Differential Scanning Calorimetry. The study was conducted according to OECD TG 102 guideline.

Boiling point

Boiling point could not be measured at atmospheric pressure (102.0 kPa). Boiling point was determined to be 95.2°C (368.4 K) at reduced pressure (0.33 kPa), with no reaction or decomposition (2014). The boiling point was determined by distillation method according to OECD TG 103.

Density

The relative density of the test item was determined to be 0.997 at 20°C (2013). The study was carried out according to OECD TG 109.

Particle size distribution

This endpoint was waived as in accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the granulometry study does not need to be conducted as the substance is marketed or used in a non-solid or granular form.

Vapour pressure

The vapour pressure of the test item at 20, 25 and 50°C was calculated to be 4.19, 6.01 and 30.97 Pa (2014). Vapour pressure was determined by dynamic method according to OECD TG 104 .

Partition coefficient

The log Pow of the test item was determined to be 5.0 at 40°C (2014). Partition coefficient was determined by HPLC method according to OECD TG 117.

Water solubility

The water solubility of the test item was determined to be 14 mg/L at 20°C and pH 6.6 (2014). Water solubility was tested according to OECD TG 105.

Surface tension

The surface tension of the test item measured in a 90 % saturated solution equivalent to 12.6 mg test item/L was determined at 20 °C to be 64.32 mN/m (standard deviation ± 0.05 mN/m) (2017). The study is a guideline experimental study with no restrictions and is fully adequate for assessment.

Flash point

The flash point of the test item was determined to be 119°C corrected for ambient pressure (2016). The study is non-GLP, but follows a standard test guideline (EU method A9) and is reliable without restrictions.

Auto flammability

The auto-ignition temperature of the test item was calculated by rounding the lowest measured concentration down to the next lowest number divisible by 5, according to the guideline. Based on this calculation method, the auto-ignition temperature of the test item is 260°C (2016). The study is a guideline experimental study, available as an unpublished report and is fully adequate for assessment.

Flammability

This endpoint was waived as the flammability classification can be determined based on flashpoint and boiling point, plus experience of handling and use. With a measured flash point > 60°C, the test item does not have to be classified as a flammable liquid according to GHS or CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1.

Explosiveness

This endpoint was waived as in accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the explosive properties study does not need to be conducted as there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule.

Oxidising properties

This endpoint was waived as in accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the oxidising properties study does not need to be conducted as the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of the chemical structure.
