2004-05-25 to 2004-08-31
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test)
Deviations:
not specified
GLP compliance:
not specified
Analytical monitoring:
no
Details on sampling:
Not applicable
Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
The mother solution preparation is carried out at a concentration of 100 mg/L.
The mother solution is diluted in order to obtain a concentration range that permit to calculate the LC50-96 hours.
Test organisms (species):
Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)
Details on test organisms:
Little trout.
In cultivation into the laboratory (Minimum acclimation of 2 weeks)
Alimentation: Daily until 24 hours before the test
Fishes length 2,0 +/ 1 cm
Test type:
not specified
Water media type:
not specified
Limit test:
no
Total exposure duration:
96 h
Post exposure observation period:
No post exposure observation period
Hardness:
No data
Test temperature:
21 °C to 25 °C
pH:
no data
Dissolved oxygen:
no data
Salinity:
no data
Nominal and measured concentrations:
The test solution must be prepared immediately before introducing fishes.
In the same time than the control, we must test concentrations forming a geometrical series, allowing to obatin 100 % death rate after 96 hours and intermediary series to calculate the LCE50-96 hours.
Details on test conditions:
12 to 16 hours light/day
no ventilation during the test
No food during the test

Conclusions:

After a 96 hours incubation, a death rate of 50% of little trouts appears for a > 100 mg/L concentration.

Executive summary:

The aim of this study was to assess, during a 96 -hour period the toxicity of the test mateial against little trout.

This study follows the OECD guideline n° 203.

A limit test was conduced at 100mg/L on ten animals.

No death were noticed in the test or in the negative control vessel.

Determination, in the conditions definde in this norm, of initial concentration (it means of the concentration at the beginning of the test) that, in 96 hours, kills 50% of the fish tested.

This concentration, called efficient initial inhibitor concentration, is designed by LC50 -96 hours.

After a 96 hours incubation, a death rate of 50% of little trouts appears for a > 100 mg/L concentration.

LC50 96 h little trout > 100 mg/L
