Description of key information
The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced to biological treatment plants in appropriate low concentrations.

The inhibitory effect of the test item on aerobic waste-water bacteria was investigated in a respiration test according to OECD 209 and GLP.
After 3 h of exposure the IC50 was determined to be > 100 mg/L. The IC50 for dichlorophenol (reference substance) tested under the same conditions was: IC50 = 12.6 mg/L.
Therefore, the test item was not found to have inhibitory effect to waste-water bacteria.
