Additional information

BASF (1988) reported the acute dermal irritation/corrosivity to the intact dorsal skin of the white rabbit based on OECD guideline 404. 0.5 ml of unchanged pentacarbonyliron was applied under semiocclusive conditions for 4 hours. No skin irritation was found.

In a short-term test (exposure 3 minutes and 1 hour) also no skin irritating properties were found (BASF, 1988). Rabbits were applied with 0.5 ml of the undiluted test substance.

In an eye irritation study according to OECD guideline 405 (BASF, 1989), no irritating effect was found. Rabbits were instilled 0.1 ml of undiluted pentacarbonyliron into the eye.

Justification for classification or non-classification
