Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Isovaleraldehyde was tested on fathead minnows (Pimephales promelas) in a 96-h flow-through acute study. No specific guideline was reported, but documentation is sufficient to assign validity and good reliability. The test design is similar to OECD 203. Five test concentration and 1 control were set up. One test chamber with 20 fish was used per test concentrations. The test concentrations were analytically verified by GLC every day in each test chamber (recovery: 106.7±4.9%).

Concentrations were as follows:

nominal: 0 (control), 2.80, 4.32, 6.63, 10.2, and 15.7 mg/L

measured (corrected average): <0.61, 2.07, 2.66, 4.13, 6.65, and 10.7 mg/L

Mortalities and signs of abnormal behaviour were observed in the all concentrations. All fish died in the two highest concentrations. Based on mean measured concentrations, the 96-h LC50 was 3.25 mg/L.
