Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Two ready biodegradation studies are available for 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediyl dioctanoate (CAS No. 31335-74-7).

The key ready biodegradability study carried out with 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediyl dioctanoate (CAS No. 31335-74-7), was performed following the OECD Guideline 301 B (Bouillon, 1999). Activated sludge was used as inoculum. During the 28-day test period, biodegradation reached 93.1%, based on CO2 evolution, and the 10-day window criterion was met.

For the supporting study carried out with 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediyl dioctanoate (CAS No. 31335-74-7), only a short abstract is available. The study was conducted according to OECD Guideline 301 B (Windeatt, 1995). At the end of the 28-day exposure period, 82% biodegradation was reached, based on CO2 evolution.

In conclusion, 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediyl dioctanoate (CAS No. 31335-74-7) can be considered as readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
