First-aid measures

General advice: First-aid crew: Ensure self-protection. Move out of dangerous area. Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.

If inhaled: Move to fresh air. Consult a physician.

In case of skin contact: Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician immediately.

In case of eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician immediately.

If swallowed: Rinse mouth with water. Immediately give large quantities of water to drink. Do NOT induce vomiting. Call a physician immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Dry sodium chloride, Limestone powder

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Foam

Specific hazards during fire fighting: May form toxic gases on heating or in case of fire.

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information: Use water spray to cool unopened containers. Be aware of a dangerous reaction with water, if the container is ruptured.

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Wear personal protective equipment. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Avoid dust formation. Remove all sources of ignition. Do not smoke.

Environmental precautions: Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Should not be released into the environment. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods for cleaning up: Never allow contact with water. Cover spilled material with limestone powder. Use mechanical handling equipment. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling: Handle under inert gas. Never allow water to come into contact with the product. Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Have eye wash bottle or eye rinse ready at the work place.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Take precautions against dust explosion.

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Keep under inert gas. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Protect from humidity and water.

Storage temperature: -10 - 40 °C

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters: Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.

Exposure controls:

Engineering measures: Never allow water to come into contact with the product. Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Dust must be extracted directly at the point of origin. Electrical equipment should be protected to the appropriate standard.

Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection: Half mask with a particle filter P2 (EN 143).

Hand protection: Flame retardant gloves. Protective gloves complying with EN 374. The exact break through time can be obtained from the pro-tective glove producer and this has to be observed. Protective gloves have to be replaced at the first sign of deterioration.

Eye protection: Eye protection (EN 166). Tightly fitting safety goggles.

Skin and body protection: Flame retardant antistatic protective clothing

Hygiene measures: Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product.

Protective measures: Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash facility and safety shower. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Environmental exposure controls:

General advice: Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Should not be released into the environment. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: Risk of violent reaction.

Chemical stability: Decomposes on heating., Sensitive to air., Decomposition under influence of moisture is highly ac-celerated by heating.

Hazardous reactions: Reacts violently with water.

Conditions to avoid: Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Protect from moisture. Product is hygroscopic.

Materials to avoid: Water, Acids, Oxidizing agents

Thermal decomposition: To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.

Disposal considerations

Product: If recycling is not practicable, dispose of in compliance with local regulations.

Contaminated packaging: Refer to manufacturer/supplier for information on recovery/recycling.

Waste Code: Waste codes should be assigned by the user, preferably in discussion with the waste disposal authorities.
