Skin sensitisation

Skin sensitisation

No experimental data are available for silicic acid, aluminium magnesium salt on skin sensitisation. However, according to the OECD guideline 406, the sensitising potential of the compound silicic acid, titanium salt was measured using the guinea pig maximisation test after Magnusson and Kligman (Richeux 2006). No macroscopic cutaneous reactions attributable to allergy were recorded during the examination following the removal of the occlusive dressing (challenge phase) from the animals pre-treated (induced) with the test material. No cutaneous intolerance reaction was recorded in animals from the negative control groups. Historical positive controls showed validity of the test results.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Under the experimental conditions, silicic acid, titanium salt showed no sensitising potential. Based on structure analogy, no sensitising of the skin is expected to occur likewise from the exposure to silicic acid, aluminium magnesium salt for which corresponding studies are not available.
