Additional information

Reaction mass containing six benzylated amine silanes hydrolyses rapidly in contact with water (half-life < 16 min) to the corresponding silanol hydrolysis products and methanol. Hydrolysis contributes significantly to the degradation of this substance. The substance displays a low vapour pressure of 20 - 26 Pa at 25°C while the silanol hydrolysis products have vapour pressures ranging between 3.9E-20 and 2.1E-10 Pa at 25°C. Therefore, both parent substance and hydrolysis products are not likely to be present in the atmosphere. The hydrolysis products are predicted to be moderate to very soluble in water (5.5E-01 to 1.0E+06 mg/L at 25°C). Furthermore, the substance was found not to be readily biodegradable under test conditions set out in the appropriate OECD guideline study. Based on the low partitioning coefficient of both the parent substance and the hydrolysis products (< 3) the potential for bioaccumulation is considered to be very low.
