Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No toxic effects up to the limit of water solubility (2 mg/L in aqua dest) for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (OECD 201, limit test)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study investigating the acute toxicity of Diisopropyl sebacate (CAS 7491-02-3) to aquatic algae is available. The study was conducted under static conditions according to OECD guideline 201 using Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata as test organism (Barthel, 2011). After mixing, the stock solution was treated with ultrasound for 1 min and then filtrated through a PTFE membrane with a pore-size of 5 µm. The filtrate of the stock solution was considered to be at the limit of the solubility of the test item under the test conditions and was immediately used for the preparation of the test concentrations. The test concentration was measured using TOC analysis; however, the analysis showed that the test substance is only poorly soluble in water, with a measured TOC concentration of 15.8 mg/L after 100 mg/L test material was added (the total organic carbon (TOC) content of the test item was determined to be 69.4%).

No effects on growth were observed after 72 hours exposure time. Hence, the 72 h-EC50 value is determined to be > 100 mg/L loading rate based on the nominal test concentration and > 15.8 mg/L, based on TOC.
