Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Test dates: Apr.19 to Jul.5, 2013
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
The study was conducted according to an internationally recognised method, and under GLP, but the result is slightly out of the applicability range of the method. The substance is adequately identified. Therefore validation applies with restrictions.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient - Shake Flask Method)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
flask method is recommended for logKow up to 4
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Not applicable
GLP compliance:
yes
Remarks:
GIPC; effective Jun.14, 2012, signed on Jan.10, 2013
Type of method:
flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Storage conditions of test material: At room temperature protected from direct sunlight.
Analytical method:

Mean Log Pow and SD = 4.98 +/- 0.04.

The validity criteria were fulfilled: the six LogPow values fell within a range of ± 0.3 units.

The pH of the water phase was measured as 7.3.

Conclusions:
The substance has potential to bioaccumulate in the environment, according to CLP classification
criteria for aquatic chronic toxicity (log Kow >4).
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient of the test substance was determined under GLP according to EU A.8 guideline, shake flask method.
Determinations were conducted in duplicate for three solvents ratio (2:40, 1:40, 4:40, 2 replicates each),
concentrations were measured using a GC-FID validated method. Individual results fulfilled the validity
criteria for reproducibility, and mass balance was satisfactory, so the average value is retained.
The log Pow was determined to be 4
.98 (at 20°C and pH=7.3).

Description of key information

Partition coefficient (log Kow) = 4.98 (20°C, pH 7.3) (EU A8, flask; GLP)
The data is relevant for classification in aquatic chronic toxicity hazard class, according to CLP criteria.
The substance has potential for bioaccumulation (log Kow >4).
It is also of concern for PBT assessment (logKow >4.5).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
4.98
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

A reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized EC method and under GLP, is available. Despite restrictions on the applicability range of the method used, it is considered as a key study, and the result is retained as key data.
