Results and discussion

Any other information on results incl. tables

When in contact with biological material, the C=N=O-group of isocyanates  reacts predominantly with "active" hydrogen atoms of OH- or NH2 -groups of  proteins causing irritation or necrotic effects in cells and tissues.  These reactions possibly lead to symptoms like caughing, trachitis,  bronchitis and, in some cases, bronchopneumia after inhalatory exposure.  Upon short-term exposure of skin or mucosae to isocyanates, only  reversible local irritation is to be expected.
