Results

Residual moisture

The test item contains a residual moisture of 0.2 wt.-% which was determined by drying thetest item under vacuum.

Combustion behavior

Pure product:

The pure product did not ignite at room temperature using a flame as ignition source.

Using a glowing coil as ignition source the pure product briefly ignites and rapidly extinguished, when the ignition source was removed at room temperature.

The test item melted when the ignition source (flame or hot wire) was applied.

Product blended with 20 % Kieselguhr:

The product with 20 % Kieselguhr showed the same burning behavior as the pure product.

Burning number

The burning number of the pure product at room temperature is classified as burningnumber BZ 2 (brief ignition and rapid extinction).

The burning number of the product at room temperature blended with 20 % Kieselguhr is classified as burning number BZ 2 (brief ignition and rapid extinction).

The pure product did not sustain combustion at room temperature, thus, the determination of the burning rate was not necessary.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
The test item is not a highly flammable solid in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Method A.10.
The test item has a burning number of BZ 2 according to VDI 2263, sheet 1.
Executive summary:

Flammability was tested in a preliminary test according to EU Method A.10 and VDI guideline 2263. The test substance was rated with BZ (Brennzahl) 2 and is therefore not a highly flammable solid.
