Low exposure of organisms living in surface water and sediment is expected due to a high volatilisation rate.

This statement is based on the following info from HSDB:

HSDB (http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/htmlgen?HSDB), entry under isoamyl acetate, CAS Nr. 123-92-2, Volatilization from Water/Soil:

The volatilization half-life from a model river (1 m deep, flowing 1 m/sec, wind velocity of 3 m/sec) was estimated as approximately 5 hours. The volatilization half-life from a model lake (1 m deep, flowing 0.05 m/sec, wind velocity of 0.5 m/sec) is estimated as approximately 121 hours (Lyman et al., SRC).

This estimation is based on a Henry's Law constant of 5.9X10-4 atm-cu m/mole at 25 deg C, determined by measurement (original data from Hine and Mookerjee). Isoamyl acetate's Henry's Law constant (Hine and Mokerjee) indicates that volatilization from moist soil surfaces is expected (SRC).

Also, a Koc < 500 was estimated (Koc = 225.4) based on the Log Kow, not pointing to a high potential for adsorption in sediment.

Furthermore, isopentyl acetate was found to be readily biodegradable in a OECD TG 301F study conducted by Givaudan.

Based on these data, no key value was pointed out for the chemical safety assessment.
