Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move exposed person to fresh air. Seek medical attention if

you feel unwell or if exposure prolongs.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 10

minutes. If irritation occurs, seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, dry powder, foam and carbon dioxide may be

used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and

nitrogen together with some hydrochloric acid gas and some

soot.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.10).

Sweep up wet powders with water, for liquids absorb using a

suitable absorbent material (eg. kieselguhr, sand, saw dust

etc.). Transfer to labelled containers and dispose of by

incineration in accordance with local regulations. Wash

spill site with water. Prevent release to water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: Ensure adequate ventilation. Observe the usual precautions

for handling chemicals. If the substance is handled as

powder, avoid inhalation, ingestion and contact with skin

and eyes. Wear suitable protective gloves, safety goggles

and a dust mask.

Storage: Store in tightly closed containers in a cool, dry area with

adequate ventilalation. Avoid dust residue outside the

containers. Take precautionary measures against static

discharges.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Ciba FP-60, polyethylene-drum in sealed cardboard package.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recycling is not practicable.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method using temperatures > 800 °C. Waste gas

treatment to remove oxides of nitrogen should be fitted

(A661).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not suitable.

If, however the substance should enter a waste water

purification system it can be removed by membrane filtration

or by floculation with cationic agents or by treatment with

ozone. The most effective method is the membrane filtration:

more than 99% of the remaining dyestuff can be removed from

the waste water.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable, the substance will only enter the public

domain in the form of dyed articles which can disposed of as

normal domestic waste.
