Description of key information
In accordance with Column 2 of Annex VII Section 7.7 and Section 2 of REACH Annex XI this study does not need to be conducted because the substance decomposes rapidly in aqueous solution (hydrolytically unstable).

Additional information
Due to the behaviour of the substance in water and aqueous solution (rapid hydrolysis), the test could not be performed. Alternatively, the water solubility of MMDS and its hydrolysis products MDSA and formaldehyde were calculated using EPI Suite (WATERNT Program (v1.01)):
Calculation of the water solubility of MMDS: estimated value of 1000 g/L at 25°C
Calculation of the water solubilities of the two hydolysis products MDSA and formaldehyde shows that both substances are also very soluble (1000 and 397 g/L at 25°C, respectively).
In view of the limitations of the applicability range of the exposure calculation tool (EUSES), for chemical safety assessment purposes a water solubility value of 100 g/L will be considered as key value.
