Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

non flammable

no pyrophoricity

no flammability on contact with water

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Based on the test result with solid isomaltulose (the main constituent of the substance), performed according to the national guideline VDI 2263, the substance neither ignites nor burns while in contact with the flame (combustion factor BZ = 1). It is not expected that other constituents change this behaviour, and moreover, the substance is marketed and used exclusively as an aqueous solution (ca. 35% of water).

Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not to be expected.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC)

1272/2008 and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

No ignition and propagation of burning in a test according to the national guideline VDI 2263: combustion factor BZ =1. The test item was a pulverized form of isomaltulose, which is the main constituent of the substance.

Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected.
