Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The effects on soil microflora were tested by Staebler, D. (2009) in a 28 days test. The test was conducted in a dose-response design with five test concentrations. The test was performed according to OECD 216 (2006) and OECD 217 (2000) guidelines. The EC50 of Piperonyl butoxide for nitrate formation rate (0 to 28 days) was calculated to be 332 mg/kg soil dry weight with a lower limit of 289 mg/kg soil dry weight and an upper limit of 381 mg/kg soil dry weight (95% confidence limits, Probit analysis) . The EC50 for short-term respiration was determined to be above 1000 mg/kg soil dry weight.

Additional information

The study of Staebler, D. (2009) was conducted according to OECD 216 (2000) and OECD 217 (2000) guidelines and was found to be valid. The study is considered as "reliable without restriction".

The results are summarised in the following table:
