Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Uronium hydrogen sulphate has no inhibitory effect on sewage sludge microorganisms.
Uronium hydrogen sulphate readily degrades to urea and sulfuric acid and/or sulfate ions in the environment and these degradation products are considered in the assessment:
- With sulphate (as calcium salt), the 3 h EC50 value was >1000 mg/L and the NOEC was 1000 mg/L (the highest dose tested, OECD 209, GLP)
- With urea, the 72 hour toxicity threshold of Entosiphon sulcatum to urea was 29 mg/l, and the 16 hour toxicity threshold of urea to Pseudomonas putida was > 10000 mg/l. Moreover, urea sulphate is considered as readily biodegradable.
It can be concluded that Uronium hydrogen sulphate and its degradation products are no inhibitory effect on sewage sludge microorganisms.
