The DSC measurement in an aluminium crucible with a hole showed an exothermal effect starting at 120 °C. After the measurement the test item was discoloured to black. Under consideration of the result from the DSC measurement it was concluded that the test item had no melting point and no boiling point at atmospheric conditions. Decomposition started at approx. 100 °C.

Executive summary:

The melting point / melting range and boiling point / boiling range are determined by differential scanning calorimetry. The test item and the reference are heated up from the starting temperature to the final temperature at a constant heating rate in a defined atmosphere (nitrogen). Open crucibles are used as containers for the test item and as empty reference crucible. The quantity of heat absorbed or released is measured and recorded. The DSC measurement in an aluminium crucible with a hole showed an exothermal effect starting at 120 °C. After the measurement the test item was discoloured to black.
