Terrestrial toxicity

Toxicity to soil macroorganisms except arthropods

In accordance with section 9.4 of Annex IX of the REACH regulation, this study does not need to be conducted as direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. The equilibrium partition method can be applied to assess the hazard to soil organisms and derivation of the PNEC-soil with a long-term toxicity test with soil macro-organisms is not required (see further details in Chapter 13 "Justification for non-performance of the studies" (attached document and discussion)).

 

Toxicity to terrestrial plants

In accordance with section 9.4 of Annex X of the REACH regulation, this study does not need to be conducted as direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. The equilibrium partition method can be applied to assess the hazard to soil organisms and derivation of the PNEC-soil with a toxicity test with terrestrial plants is not required (see further details in Chapter 13 "Justification for non-performance of the studies" (attached document and discussion)).

 

Toxicity to soil microorganisms

In accordance with section 9.4 of Annex IX of the REACH regulation, this study does not need to be conducted as direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. The equilibrium partition method can be applied to assess the hazard to soil organisms and derivation of the PNEC-soil with a short-term toxicity test with soil micro-organisms is not required (see further details in Chapter 13 "Justification for non-performance of the studies" (attached document and discussion)).

 

Toxicity to birds

The test substance has a low toxicity to mammals, not leading to a classification. The test substance is not considered to be bioaccumulative and is not a PBT or vPvB-substance, and no adverse effects on reproduction to mammals were observed. No avian specific indications were obtained that an assessment of secondary poisoning for the aquatic and terrestrial food chains for birds could not be performed by using the mammalian PNEC and applying an additional assessment factor of 10 for birds. From the Integrated Testing Strategy in the Guidance Document R.7c it is concluded that a test with birds can await the outcome of the proposed reproduction toxicity test, and that the PNECbird can be estimated by PNECmammal/10.
