Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The density of potassium was described in several handbooks/textbooks. The values differ slightly (e.g. 0.86 g/cm3 & 0.89 g/cm3 & 0.856 g/cm3), but this difference can be ignored because of temperature uncertainties etc., so the relative density of potassium to water at 4 °C is in the mean 0.87.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Relative density at 20C:
0.87

Additional information

Temperature uncertainties, but it can be assumed, that the handbook data are true for a standard temperature at 20 °C.
