Description of key information

The substance has a very low water solubility and so it is technically not possible to determine the hydrolysis half-life experimentally. The hydrolysis half-life for trimethyl(octadecyloxy)silane is predicted to be approximately 15 hours at pH 7 using an appropriate QSAR but this is subject to some uncertainty as the octadecyloxy group is not covered in the training set for the prediction.

The requirement to conduct a hydrolysis study was waived in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VIII because the substance is highly insoluble in water.
