Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

key study
Study period:
2021-06-09
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
Expert statement based on a guideline study.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to other study
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Expert statement
GLP compliance:
no
Parameter:
sensitiveness to impact: impact energy (J)
Remarks:
The unit of the value is J/g.
Value:
230
Remarks on result:
negative (not further specified)
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
As the heat of decomposition of the substance with 230 J/g is well below the threshold value of 800 J/g, the substance is classified as not explosive.
Executive summary:

According to European Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 , “CLP-VO”, screening methods can be applied to assess the explosiveness of substances. As stated in chpt. 2.1.4.2 a substance is not considered explosive, if the heat of decomposition is below 800 J/g, and further testing thus is not required. Furthermore, chpt. 2.1.4.3 a) states, that a substance is considered not explosive, if the substance does not contain functional groups associated with explosive properties as stated in the UN RTG, Appendix 6, Tables A6.1 and A6.3.
